Former WWE Divas Champion Paige has responded to WWE taking the decision to give one of their referees the same name.

NXT and 205 Live referee Chloe Christmas has recently been renamed as Paige by WWE, and has updated her Twitter handle to reflect the change. This is the name the real-life Saraya-Jade Bevis has used since she started working for the company in 2011.

There has since been interaction between the two Paige’s on Twitter. Bevis initially posted a picture of Spiderman looking back at his doppelganger, whilst the official used a gif to claim it was the great name she had ever heard.

The former Divas Champion, who won the belt on her WWE Raw debut against AJ Lee, was forced to retire from in-ring competition in April 2018 due to a neck injury which she originally sustained in November the previous year on a house show.

During the match in question, Paige teamed with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to take on Sasha Banks, Mickie James and Bayley. During the match she took a kick to the head from ‘The Boss’ which caused an impact injury on her surgically repaired neck. Since that day she has not been medically cleared and has been forced away from in-ring action.

There are some positive signs from the former WWE star, as she recently posted on social media that she is back in the gym and was able to squat 185lbs, a sign that she may be significantly recovering from the injury. She even hinted at a possible return in another recent post on Twitter.

However, we can only hope that a certain official isn’t in charge of her matches if she returns, or the commentary could get a little bit confusing.
