WWE Aiming For ‘Something Different’ For 2021 Royal Rumble

WWE has very conspicuously not announced a date for the 2021 Royal Rumble.

With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of abating, it appears WWE are planning to continue the Thunderdome set up well into the new year. With the need to leave the Amway Center in the week following the Survivor Series PPV on November 22nd, WWE are planning to have their current set up into February according to the reliable insider Twitter account, WrestleVotes.

Whilst the Thunderdome is working well compared to their previous set up in the Performance Center, it sounds like WWE want to do something special for the Royal Rumble in January.

More than any event other than WrestleMania, it is hard to imagine an event without fans more than the Rumble. Any impact of surprise entrants or moments during the Rumble matches themselves would be significantly compromised without fans in attendance – and fans WWE want, according to WrestleVotes.

What this ‘something different’ could be is unknown at the moment but like the rest of the world (Including Hooked On Wrestling!), WWE’s plans to have fans attend their events en masse have been constantly scuppered by the pandemic refusing to loosen its grip on most of the world.

With only Survivor Series and TLC on the PPV schedule before the end of the year, we should soon find out clearer information about WWE’s plans.
