It’s January and in the world of wrestling that means only two things, lots of pointing at the WrestleMania sign and the WWE Royal Rumble is right around the corner! But who is going to win the 2022 Royal Rumble? Let’s find out.
Warning, potential spoilers ahead for the upcoming 2022 Royal Rumble…read at your own discretion.
Every January 30 men and women enter the WWE Royal Rumble with the aim of outlasting 29 other competitors to win the match and book their ticket to ‘The Grandest Stage of All’ WrestleMania!
This years event takes place on January 29th and emanates live from The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Early on fans may speculate wildly about shocking returns, possible and winners and who will go on to main event WrestleMania…but one of the most reliable sources for fans to get an early indicator of who will win the matches is to check the current betting odds for the show.
Bookmakers around the globe employ millions of analysts, researchers and insight providers to ensure that companies such as SkyBet [*other bookmakers are available] have a heads up on any events or information that will change the likely outcome of an event before the fans.
This is to ensure fans and consumers do not get better odds on an event or probability than the data reflects it should, for example in football, bookmakers need to know that a manager has been interviewed for a job before the fans do in order to ensure fans don’t bet on it at odds of 500/1 when in actuality the manager is now the favourite for the position.
Wrestling [scripted in nature] operates slightly differently and the betting odds aren’t always a sure fire method of identifying the winner until hours before the show.
With that being said, let’s take a look at who are currently the standout favourites to win the WWE 2022 Royal Rumble.
The current standout favourite to win the men’s Royal Rumble is none other than current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has been set for a main event clash against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania since his return at SummerSlam 2021 and his WWE Championship victory over Big E at Day 1 appears not to have shifted these plans at all.
Many would suspect this means that Brock Lesnar is set to lost his WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley during the WWE Royal Rumble 2022 PPV however Lesnar is also overwhelmingly the favourite to win this match sitting currently at 1/2 odds.
Elsewhere in the men’s Royal Rumble, Big E sits at 4/1 in 2nd place with AJ Styles 8/1 and Bobby Lashley closing out the top four at 10/1.
In more shocking recent events reports have circulated that Ronda Rousey may be set for an imminent return to the WWE with WON reporting that Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch is being considered as the RAW Women’s Championship match for WrestleMania.
In December, former WWE Women’s Grand Slam Champion Bayley was the favourite however mixed reports on her injury rehabilitation have caused a large drop in the odds with Bianca Belair the closest confirmed entrant as favourite to win the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble at odds of just 3/1.
Elsewhere in the women’s Royal Rumble, Alexa Bliss and Bayley are 5/1 and 6/1 respectively with Lita the highest ranked returning legend at 10/1 and retired WWE Superstar Paige available at just 12/1 odds helping fuel rumours of her imminent return to in-ring action.
