NFL star Rob Gronkowski was a big part of the build up to last year’s WrestleMania in his capacity of host of the event.
At the show itself, infamously moved to the WWE Performance Center as the global pandemic took hold, Gronk even won the WWE 24/7 Title from his real life friend Mojo Rawley.
With the event taking place at the Raymond James Stadium this year (The stadium that plays host to Gronkowski’s team, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers), speculation has inevitably mounted about him making an appearance on either April 10th or 11th.
Now WWE executive Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has weighed in on the possibility. Speaking on Pardon My Take, he said:
“It’s a possibility. I know it’s been discussed. I’m of the opinion that as the first opportunity with Gronk was happening and we were meeting with him around the Super Bowl, you kind of don’t know what Gronk is going to do until Gronk does what he’s going to do. You can have a lot of conversations but until he actually shows up, I don’t know if it’s going to happen. There have been conversations around that. As always, there’s going to be a lot of celebrity influence.”
So that’s a firm….maybe.
The last time Gronk appeared in the stadium was a rather successful night. In February, he and his Bucs team became the first NFL team to win the Super Bowl in their home stadium with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
If Gronkowski does make an appearance at ‘Mania he will join a number of other celebrities already confirmed for the show.
Bad Bunny will of course wrestle The Miz and Logan Paul will play a role in the Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn match. Also, Bebe Rexha has been confirmed to sing America The Beautiful at the event.
WrestleMania 37 will take place on April 10th and 11th 2021. For more information about the event, check out our handy explainer guide.
