Greg Valentine Describes Reaction Of Vince McMahon When WWE Star Fell Asleep Mid-Conversation

Vince McMahon stands in ring

WWE Hall Of Famer Greg Valentine has recalled the time one of the company’s superstars fell asleep whilst having a conversation with Vince McMahon, and how it sent the boss in to a rage before eventually calming down.

Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine had plenty of success in WWE, including holding the Tag Team Championships as one half of The Dream Team alongside Brutus Beefcake as well as a solo run where he held the Intercontinental Title.

Known both during and outside his time in WWE, Greg Valentine was known as a tag team specialist including collaborating with the likes of Ric Flair, Terry Taylor and Baron Von Raschke.

Speaking on a Title Match Wrestling video, Valentine recalled an occasion he was in a meeting with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and fellow colleague Tugboat. During the meeting, Tugboat fell asleep due to a good reason that the Chairman was not aware of.

Vince didn’t know that he had this narcoleptic [sleep disorder] thing. He fell asleep while Vince is going over the match with us in the dressing room, and Vince got mad. ‘What are you doing falling asleep like that?’ But it was all good and he found out that Tugboat didn’t mean to fall asleep.

Giving a little more detail, Valentine explained that Tugboat wasn’t the only member of the WWE roster who suffered with the condition as King Kong Bundy had the same issue.

Tugboat, real name Fred Ottman, played a number of other characters throughout his career as a professional wrestling including the likes of being one half of The Natural Disasters as Typhoon, and the now infamous Shockmaster.
