WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is among a staggeringly long list of senior WWE personnel who were absent from the final episode of Raw before Day 1.
The show saw the final of the RK-Bro-Nament which had been postponed from earlier this month, with The Street Profits getting the better of Dominik and Rey Mysterio to earn a title shot against Riddle and Randy Orton at the 1st January event.
The title holders were also in action, respectively defeated Chad Gable and Otis in singles action. Elsewhere on the show, WWE United States Champion Damian Priest was successful in his defence against Dolph Ziggler, whilst Kevin Owens and AJ Styles both picked up victories in singles action.
In one of the more shocking moments of the show, former Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff returned to the company to oversee the renewal of The Miz and Maryse’s wedding vows. The segment lasted only three minutes, as all three were covered in a ‘Brood Bath’ courtesy of The Miz’s Day 1 opponent, Edge.
Whilst the show in Detroit was well attended, it would seem there were plenty of shoes to fill backstage. Pro Wrestling Insider has revealed that the following list of WWE personnel were not in attendance at the show:
- WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon
- Senior Vice President & Executive Director Bruce Prichard
- Executive Producer & Chief of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn
- Producer, on-air talent & Director of Live Events Adam Pearce
- Senior Producer, Hall of Famer & Vice President of Creative Writing & Booking Michael “PS” Hayes
According to the report, the show ended up being run by John Laurinitis and WWE lead writer Ed Koskey.
There is no confirmation at this stage whether this absences are linked to the Covid-19 outbreak which saw a number of talent pulled from the company’s Boxing Day event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
