It would seem that AEW’s roster expansion is showing no signs of slowing, as Tony Khan has now said that there’s going to be another addition “pretty soon”, labelling the person as a “dream signing”.
2021 was a huge year of growth for the company both in terms of programming and talent. As well as adding the Rampage and Dark: Elevation to their schedule, AEW also added plenty of wrestlers to their roster including the likes of CM Punk, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson.
AEW President Tony Khan has discussed in various interviews the company’s policy for signing new talent, and has been quoted as saying lately that whilst he may need to be more discerning in who he brings to the company, he also wants to stay active when it comes to signing talent.
Speaking ahead of AEW Dynamite’s TBS debut on 5th January, Tony Khan has given the biggest hint yet that there is another high-profile wrestler set to join the organisation in the near future.
In a conversation with Josh Martinez of Z100, Khan noted that a “dream signing” was on the way to the company.
There is [a dream signing]. They are in North America and they’re coming. Pretty soon. It’s going to be awesome and I’m excited.
The last few weeks has also seen an influx of talent, notably with Kyle O’Reilly teaming up with his former Undisputed Era teammates Adam Cole and Bobby Fish in AEW. He has also been joined by Mercedes Martinez who has instantly started trading with Thunder Rosa, as well as reports that Brody King will be debuting for the company in the near future.
On the first episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS, Adam Page managed to defeat Bryan Danielson to retain his World Championship, whilst two new title holders were crowned.
