The Young Bucks Extend Contracts With AEW

The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, have confirmed that they’ve signed a multi-year extension to their contracts with AEW.

The duo have been a mainstay of the company since its inception in 2019, not only joining as wrestlers but as Executive Vice Presidents alongside Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega.

The news of their new contract was originally speculated by Dave Meltzer at The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who claimed The Young Bucks had signed new long-term contracts with the organisation.

It didn’t take long for the former AEW Tag Team Champions to confirm that the news was true, stating that the new contracts would see them tied to the company until 2024.

The team’s title reign started at AEW Full Gear in November 2020 when they defeated FTR for the belts. They would go on to be the longest-reigning title holders so far in the company’s history at 302 days, before eventually losing them to The Lucha Brothers in a Steel Cage match at AEW All Out 2021.

More recently, The Young Bucks haven’t been going after the titles as have been rebuilding their relationship with Adam Cole as The Superkliq since the latter star joined AEW.

The last match for The Young Bucks was as The Superkliq when they competed against Jurassic Express and Christian Cage at Full Gear on 13th November. On that night they lost the match, with Christian Cage handing the decisive fall to Jungle Boy who hit a conchairto on Cole to get the win.

The Young Bucks then also came to ringside during the main event match between AEW Champion Kenny Omega and his challenger ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. At this point it was expected that they would interfere on behalf of the title holder, but instead they simply nodded at Page before he picked up the win and won the title in a match which had been two years in the making.

Following Full Gear, The Young Bucks confirmed on an episode of Being The Elite that they are not currently cleared for in-ring competition.
