Shane McMahon Seemingly Not Competing At WrestleMania As Rumoured

Shane McMahon

After the rumourmill started circulating that Shane McMahon may make a sensational return to WWE action over WrestleMania weekend, a new report seems to quash that theory.

After a tumultuous return to WWE for the Royal Rumble, Shane McMahon was let go by the company in February 2022. However, in the last week there has been plenty of talk that the Chairman’s son will be in Dallas for ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’, with reports that he could even be signed for a match. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has now discussed the likely reasons McMahon is in town.

Yeah so I mean, here’s the deal…he was going to go [to WrestleMania] no matter what. He goes to the Hall of Fame, every single Hall of Fame, of course he is at the Hall of Fame, and so of course he was going to go with Vince [McMahon] inducting The Undertaker in the Hall of Fame.

Meltzer went on to claim that Shane McMahon’s name hasn’t been mentioned by the WWE creative team since his release, contrary to some reports.

Now there’s always the chance that Vince is kayfabing everyone and there is going to be something but I’ve been told, and this was by multiple people who are pretty high on the food chain, and look, you never know 100% because its wrestling and Vince can change everything but as far as Shane McMahon on WrestleMania or something like that – on the creative team, his name has not been spoken about since January and it has never been brought up.

They are under the impression that he is just going to the Hall of Fame and he is going to hang out at WrestleMania like he does every single year and it’s a non-story that people are making too much of it.

Shane McMahon not only entered the 2022 Royal Rumble as a mystery participant, ending up in the final three alongside Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre, but also served as an agent on the match with his actions seemingly not going down well with a number of people backstage. It has also been rumoured that he was originally meant to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, a role which will now seemingly filled by Cody Rhodes as his surprise opponent.
