Roman Reigns’ Next Universal Title Challenger Revealed On SmackDown

Roman Reigns

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns came out of WrestleMania 37 looking more dominant than ever. In the main event triple threat match he defeated both Edge and Daniel Bryan by stacking the pair on top of each other for the pin.

Coming in to this week’s SmackDown, there was no obvious challenger for The Tribal Chief, but that changed after Reigns’ show-opening promo after he was interrupted by Cesaro.

Fresh off his ‘Mania victory over Seth Rollins, Cesaro challenged Reigns to a match later in the show and later demanded that authority figures Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville set the match.

He didn’t get his wish. Despite Reigns’ advocate Paul Heyman hinting that he would get his wish, he was actually placed into a match with Jey Uso.

The match took place as SmackDown’s main event after multiple videos throughout the show highlighting Cesaro and the UFO move he bust out at Raymond James Stadium last Saturday.

The match ended with a disqualification win for The Swiss Cyborg after an attack from Seth Rollins, suggesting that rivalry has at least one more chapter left in it.

This interaction bodes well for all those fans (basically, ALL the fans) who have been clamouring for Cesaro to be given an opportunity to shine at a higher level.
