Many wrestling fans, specifically those of a certain age have been eagerly awaiting the release of RetroMania Wrestling – the spiritual successor to the awesome WWF Wrestlefest arcade game.
It has now been confirmed that the game will release on February 26th 2021.
In the early nineties if you were a wrestling fan in the U.K. you had few choices to get your wrestling fix. Main events were shown a few days after they’d been live in America, WWF or Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazines were usually out of date by the time you read them and a superstar could’ve gone face-heel-turn before you’d realised they’d made their debut.
But, for us of a certain age, we had WWF WrestleFest to make us feel like we were in the loop. If you weren’t spending your pocket money on VHS tapes you were spending it on this. Featuring an absolute who’s who of wrestling talent of the time, Hogan, Warrior, Legion of Doom, Demolition and (to be fair, not many) more, you could make a tag team or battle your way through the Royal Rumble.
And now, only 30 short years later, we’re finally getting a sequel! Retrosoft LLC announced that ‘RetroMania Wrestling’ will be released for digital download on February 26th 2021. It’ll be released on Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox, and Playstation.
Wrestlers in-game include Hawk and Animal, Colt Cabana, Blue Meanie, Nick Aldis, Warhorse, Zack Sabre Jr and more (Tommy Dreamer too!) Match types include Battle Royal, Steel Cage matches and plenty others too.
We’ve got a pocket full of 10p coins ready for the release and we get to choose our wrestler first. Fight us. (10p is how much arcade games still cost to play right?)
The new trailer has also been released to whet fan’s appetites further.
