Report: Charlotte Flair Drafted To SmackDown At FOX’s Request

Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring

There are reports circulating that FOX specifically requested that Charlotte Flair be moved to SmackDown during the current WWE Draft.

The current Raw Women’s Champion was the third overall pick in this year’s Draft, having been a part of the red brand since the Draft back in 2019.

Flair’s selection was only third behind Universal Champion Roman Reigns who remains a part of SmackDown, whilst the second pick was the WWE Champion Big E who now has a new home on Monday nights.

The transfer of Flair from Raw to SmackDown grabbed headlines due to her currently holding the title belt for the red brand. Whilst Big E moves in the opposite direction, this was far more logical after his Money In The Bank cash-in on Bobby Lashley.

According to a new report from Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc, the request for Flair to make the move to SmackDown came directly from Fox. Whilst this means both current women’s title holders are currently on the same brand, the switches only come in to effect on 22nd October, the night after Crown Jewel.

Already signed for that event in Saudi Arabia is Becky Lynch defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair, who has already been drafted to Raw, and Sasha Banks in a triple-threat match.

The main event of SmackDown this week was a WrestleMania rematch between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. Whilst Becky Lynch was on commentary, she interjected herself in the match to cost Belair the victory.

After the conclusion of the match ‘The Queen’ stormed the ring and took out both Belair and Banks. The final image on SmackDown was of Flair standing tall in the ring with her title, whilst ‘The Man’ did the same on top of the commentary desk.

There were more big transfers in the second round of this year’s Draft, with Drew McIntyre making the move to SmackDown whilst ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge will be heading in the opposite direction. The New Day have also once again been separated, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods also moving to the blue brand.

Night two of the Draft takes place this coming Monday, 4th October on Raw.
