Report: Bray Wyatt’s Salary Prior To WWE Release Revealed

The Fiend Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt was released by WWE in July 2021, however a new report appears to confirm how much his contract was worth prior to being let go.

There has been plenty of talk about WWE contracts in recent days. This came about firstly when it was confirmed that Kevin Owens had renewed his deal with the company, and now there are reports that Sami Zayn has followed in his footsteps by putting pen to paper on a new deal.

The latest report, produced by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, seems to give some insight in to the way new contracts can work as well as giving potential details on the deal Bray Wyatt was on until he was released. According to Dave Meltzer, WWE contracts are essentially 90-day rolling deals which renew each day at the company’s discretion.

Metlzer uses Bray Wyatt as an example, giving the figure of $2-3 million deals being a trigger point to get superstars to agree to deals with lengthy terms, when they are still essentially only for three months.

The 2-3 million a year range is so blinding to people, they sign, not realizing it’s a 90 day contract that renews every day at WWE’s sole discretion. It’s how they `got’ Windham Rotunda. He was going to get 3 mil, 3 year term. They went to a 5 year term. He held. They inched up towards 4. He jumped at it. But it’s still a 90 day contract. And with the higher number, it takes less and less to trigger the release.

According to the report, there were other factors besides money which led to Bray Wyatt’s release.

Although Bray Wyatt will appear at WrestleCon 2022, he has not yet surfaced in any other promotions despite repeated links to the likes of AEW and IMPACT Wrestling. He was released from his contract on 31st July 2021, meaning any non-compete clause would have now expired.
