Randy Orton Reportedly Set For Time Away From WWE

Randy Orton

It would seem Randy Orton is set to take some time away from WWE programming, according to a new report.

‘The Viper’ was absent from the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, leaving his RK-Bro partner Riddle appearing on the show multiple times by himself including taking on Chad Gable in a scooter race.

The week previously, Riddle and Orton had competed in a spelling bee against Otis and Gable.

Almost inevitably the scooter race was interrupted by Otis who attacked Riddle, leading to a match between the pair later in the night. Victory for the former UFC star earned him qualification to the upcoming WWE Championship Elimination Chamber contest.

This singles run would seem to imply that we won’t be seeing the combination of Riddle and Randy Orton for a period of time, and a new report has given some more weight to this.

Speaking on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez said that Orton is set to be absent for a “little while”. No specifics were given on an exact timeframe or reason for the absence.

There has also been plenty of speculation of late that RK-Bro are set to go their separate ways sooner rather than later.

Despite rumours of this split stretching back to the Summer of 2021, a new report claims that the pair could be set for a showdown over the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.

The report from Wrestle Votes says that while only a “handful” of members of the creative team want RK-Bro to split, the contest between the two was originally slated for SummerSlam and is now likely to take place at ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’.

Although the unlikely pairing started out as a team reluctantly – on the side of Orton, at least – they soon became increasingly popular with the company and went on to win the Raw Tag Team Championships at SummerSlam.

The loss of the title belts to Alpha Academy on 10th January hasn’t dampened the cohesiveness between the team, although between Orton’s break and the rumours of their WrestleMania contest we are likely to see a major bust-up in the fairly near future.
