WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard has commented on some of the reasons why Mr Kennedy may not have reached his full potential in WWE, including having a “mental block” or being “allergic to success”.

Ken Anderson, known as Mr Kennedy in WWE and via the Anderson surname in a number of other places including IMPACT Wrestling, got off to a hot start after signing with WWE in 2005 and being on the main roster before the year was out. His win-loss record at that point was strong, and he went on to win the Money In The Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 23.

Unfortunately the successful streak didn’t last for too long for Kennedy, as he lost the briefcase to Edge, was suspended under WWE’s wellness policy, and went on to be released in May 2009 after accusations of backstage issues.

Also during this run, Mr Kennedy was the final opponent for Eddie Guerrero, before ‘Latino Heat’ passed away in November 2015, although in the same breath Kennedy was also part of the start of the spot which gained Guerrero’s infamous surname.

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle podcast, Bruce Prichard discussed a number of the reasons why Mr Kennedy didn’t reach the heights he could have, implicating that there were hopes he would.

I think, at this time (2006), everybody enjoyed working with Kennedy. You know, Ken, a hell of a talent, a hell of a worker, hell of a talker, very good in the ring. I’ve said it before; I think that, you know, Ken, in some ways, was just either allergic to success, just had that mental block when he reached that certain level to go beyond and be the megastar that I truly think he could have been.

After leaving WWE and becoming Mr Anderson, Kennedy signed for IMPACT Wrestling in 2010 where he would become a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, before leaving the company in 2016.

Bruce Prichard also recently spoke on Ozzy Osbourne getting his teeth stuck on chicken when meeting Vince McMahon.
