It is being reported that top NXT star Kyle O’Reilly will be out of contract in December, fuelling speculation that he could make a move away from the company.

O’Reilly signed with WWE in July 2017, and headed straight to what was the black and gold brand at the time. Before that he had made a name for himself on the independent scene, in particular with Ring Of Honor where he is a former World and Tag Team Champion.

His reDragon tag team partner Bobby Fish was not far behind, as he also signed with WWE and at NXT: TakeOver Brooklyn the pair formed an alliance with the debuting Adam Cole to form The Undisputed Era.

During his time on NXT, O’Reilly became a three-time Tag Team Champion, in various combinations of The Undisputed which went on to include a fourth member, Roderick Strong.

The group shocking imploded in February 2021, when Adam Cole attacked Kyle O’Reilly which led to a bitter battle between the two. This culminated in the ‘Undisputed Finale’ at NXT: TakeOver 36 where O’Reilly was victorious in a match which turned out to be Cole’s last in WWE before his contract expired and he joined AEW.

It is now being reported by Mike Johnson of Pro Wrestling Insider that Kyle O’Reilly’s contract with WWE is set to expire in December 2021. He also notes that O’Reilly is internally listed within the company as NXT’s number two babyface.

O’Reilly has been one of the few members from the original NXT to have a prominent role since its reboot, and has teamed in recent weeks with newcomer Von Wagner.

Whilst there’s every possibility of O’Reilly signing a new contract, many will speculate at an Undisputed Era reunion in AEW, with both Adam Cole and more recently Bobby Fish both already making the move there.
