Mustafa Ali has announced that he has asked for his release from WWE. A subsequent report has given more details on the situation, saying that there was an incident that caused an altercation between him and Vince McMahon.
“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling.
“Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE.
“Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”

Shortly after Ali released the statement, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that the star’s recent lengthy absence from WWE was not because of paternity leave and that the star had only asked to miss one show for the birth of his child.
A previous report from Fightful released after Ali did not appear at SmackDown in his hometown of Chicago stated that he only asked for a short period of paternity leave, but he has now been off TV for several months.
The report also noted that the reason for Ali’s absence was simply because there were no plans for him.
Fightful Select has now given details on the events that may have led to Ali’s request to be let go from the company.
The issues surrounding his absence are said to have begun after the “New America” gimmick Ali hinted at several weeks ago was nixed. The idea was accepted at first, however, Vince McMahon decided against it and pitched something else that was said to be “something Mustafa Ali would never have done.” This ended with a heated argument between the two and Ali’s later absence from WWE.
While it is not known if WWE will grant the release, Fightful quoted a higher-up in the company who said it would be difficult to justify not granting releases because of the budget cuts that have happened over the past few months.
