Matt Cardona – “Paul Heyman Can Kiss My Tan Ass”

Matt Cardona

Matt Cardona has hit out at Paul Heyman in a promo at GCW Say You Will, inviting Brock Lesnar’s Advocate to “kiss his tan ass”.

Matt Cardona debuted for GCW in June 2021 by attacking Nick Gage at the company’s Zombie Walk event. A few weeks later at GCW Homecoming, he shockingly defeated Gage in a Deathmatch to capture the GCW World Championship.

Cardona’s reign lasted until September 2021 when, at The Art Of Wargames, Jon Moxley made a surprise appearance, answering Cardona’s open challenge for the title. Moxley handily defeated Cardona after assaulting him with light tubes and laying him out with a Paradigm Shift to take the title.

More recently, at Most Notorious on January 14th, Cardona emerged victorious from a bout with ECW Original Rhino, after which he crowned himself the ECW World Television Champion.

Since then, fans have questioned what Paul Heyman would make of Cardona reactivating the ECW title, and Cardona provided a response for them at Say You Will. Before beginning his match against wrestling legend Ricky Morton, Cardona addressed the crowd, saying that as far as he was concerned, Heyman could kiss his ass.

“I haven’t talked to Paul Heyman in two years. The last time I talked to Paul Heyman, it was at the beginning of the pandemic and he was in charge of Monday Night Raw. I wrote this heartfelt email about how all I wanted was an opportunity, and all I wanted to do was wrestle. I got fired two days later. So, as far as I’m concerned, Paul Heyman can kiss my tan ass!”

He went on to discuss about what was next for the championship, saying WWE, who own the IP for the title and ECW as a whole, would hit him with a cease and desist order.

“As for this championship, I know that WWE’s going to hit me with a cease and desist, but I’m always ready.”

He then asked for a garbage can and spoke the words Shawn Michaels said to Ric Flair before he superkicked him into retirement, “I’m sorry, I love you,” before dropping the belt in the trash, just as Madusa did to the WWF Women’s Championship on an episode of WCW Nitro during the Monday Night Wars.

Cardona was unexpectedly defeated by Morton by roll-up, much to the delight of the audience. However, he proceeded to attack the veteran following the loss, leading to Joey Janella coming to the ring to chase him off.
