Major Title To Be Defended In Texas Deathmatch At AEW Fyter Fest 2021 Night Two

NJPW IWGP United States Championship Belt

Next week’s second night of AEW Fyter Fest 2021 is set to be an absolute banger with a loaded line up already set.

For many, the highlight of that line up will be the match announced on Fyter Fest Night 1 that will see Lance Archer challenge Jon Moxley for the IWGP United States Championship in a Texas Deathmatch.

The bout was set after Moxley successfully defended the title against Karl Anderson in the opening match of the July 14th show.

Archer and his associate Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts laid down the challenge in a badkstafr interview. It did not take long for Moxley to accept.

The two men have significant recent history, not least where that particular championship is involved.

Archer was the last man to hold the belt before Mox. The former Dean Ambrose defeated The Murderhawk for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January 2020. The match was also a Texas Deathmatch, taking place at The Tokyo Dome.

In AEW, the two clashed for the AEW Championship in October 2020 when Moxley held that title. Archer was granted the shot on the first anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite after winning the Casino Battle Royal at the All Out 2020 PPV.

Night Two of Fyter Fest takes place at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. The full card is as follows:

  • AEW Women’s Championship: Dr. Britt Baker DMD (c) vs. Nyla Rose
  • IWGP United States Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Lance Archer (Texas Deathmatch)
  • Five Labours Of Jericho: Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Spears (Chairs all legal for Spears to use only)
  • Orange Cassidy vs. The Blade
