It would appear that a number of the WWE locker room are unhappy with the way Big E is being treated by the company at the moment, feeling he’s “had the rug pulled out from under him”.
Last year was a big one for Big E, stepping in to the singles ranks rather than being alongside his New Day teammates. He went on to win the Money In The Bank ladder match, and a move to Raw gave him the opportunity to cash in his briefcase on ‘The All Mighty’ Bobby Lashley and capture the WWE Championship for the first time in his career.
However, 2022 has seen a major change in fortunes for Big E. On the first day of the year he ended up losing his title belt in a fatal five-way match to late addition Brock Lesnar. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ was only added to the match on the day of the show after his originally slated opponent Roman Reigns returned a positive COVID-19 test.
Later reports claimed that if it wasn’t Lesnar he lost the WWE Championship to, Big E was going to be walking out without the gold on the night with Seth Rollins the most likely victor.
Many thought that the Royal Rumble would provide a change in fortune for the former title holder, however having entered the contest at number 26 Big E was dumped out of the match by RK-Bro without registering an elimination of his own.
Wade Keller of PWTorch is now reporting that there are other stars in the locker room who aren’t happy with the treatment Big E is currently receiving.
I’ve asked around, and all I’ve gotten is people who are really upset, you know, with the rug being pulled out from under him, and I haven’t heard anything about there being an awareness of an issue with him and I think the people I have asked would know.
But, I mean, one person just described him as a magnificent human being who doesn’t deserve this treatment.
Big E is now back teaming with The New Day following a return to SmackDown, and most recently defeated Los Lotharios on the 4th February episode.
