As Lita prepares to return to the ring in the 2022 Royal Rumble, a new report has claimed that the WWE Hall of Famer held talks with AEW less than a year ago.
Lita returned to WWE television on the January 14th episode of SmackDown, her appearance coming just a week after it was announced that she would be competing in the 2022 Royal Rumble match.
Returning to the blue brand for the first time in almost two decades, the WWE Hall of Famer said that she felt that she had one good run left in her. At this, she was interrupted by current SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. However, it was the veteran who got the upper hand dropping Flair with a Twist of Fate to stand tall.
Meanwhile, a new report from Fightful Select has claimed that AEW reached out to the star back in 2021, but the two sides failed to agree terms on a deal. The deal included a pitch that would have seen Lita clash with current AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker, potentially at All Out.
Interestingly it was said that the two sides remain on good terms, and didn’t rule out working together in the future.
The report closed by noting that despite her history of injury issues, Lita has been medically cleared to compete for over four years.
The former WWE Women’s Champion last wrestled in 2018. The high-flyer competed in a trio of matches including the Royal Rumble, and tag team matches at Evolution and Monday Night Raw.
