Former WWE Superstar Lana has opened up about her attempts to look more like Charlotte Flair in her attempts to become a WWE Women’s Champion.
Lana, whose real name is CJ Perry, first appeared in WWE as the manager of her future real-life husband Rusev, who is now better known as AEW’s Miro. During her time with the company, she also began to compete in matches with limited success. Once Miro left WWE in 2020, she went on to become a full-time wrestler and was involved in the women’s tag team division alongside Naomi and also had a feud with Nia Jax. She was then released from her contract on June 2nd, 2021.
Lana recently took part in a virtual signing with East Coast Autograph Auctions, when she came across a photo she said was from her “bulking days.” She explained that she thought by bulking and appearing more like Charlotte Flair, she would be able to become champion.
“Probably 2017-2018, I felt like if I could bulk up and look like Charlotte Flair, then maybe I could become champion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. You know, not everyone can be genetically superior and also have a famous father that is 16, 17 time (champion). His daughter is going to surpass him pretty soon.”
Since leaving WWE, Lana has not appeared for any other wrestling promotions, although she has hinted that she might once again appear alongside Miro, but this time in AEW.
