Kurt Angle has gone out on a limb to say that WWE could do much better when it comes to utilising current Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

‘The King Of Strong Style’ Shinsuke Nakamura made his debut for the company at NXT TakeOver in Dallas on the weekend of WrestleMania 32, defeating Sami Zayn in what was to be the latter’s final match before making the move to the main roster.

Nakamura came in to the company having forged himself a strong reputation in his native Japan. He was the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in history and held the belt three times, as well as winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, the G1 Climax tournament and the New Japan Cup, including having memorable bouts with the likes of AJ Styles, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada.

Despite the fanfare of his arrival at NXT TakeOver and a notable Royal Rumble win in 2018, Shinsuke Nakamura’s WWE career hasn’t quite hit the levels that many were expecting. Currently holding the Intercontinental Championship, ‘The King Of Strong Style’ hasn’t defended the title since winning it from Apollo Crews three months ago.

Speaking on a recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, former World Champion Kurt Angle said he feels WWE could have done a lot more to make use of such a great talent.

I love his passion for the sport, love his character and think he’s hilarious,” Angle said. “Every time he comes out, the fans go crazy. It’s crazy that the company hasn’t utilized him more, the way he should be utilized. Really surprised but I think it might be a little bit of the language barrier, that might be one of the reasons but he covers that with the way he portrays himself and the things he says. He doesn’t have to know English, he’s entertaining as it is. I’m not sure why they don’t utilize him the way he should be utilized.

Shinsuke Nakamura was part of the pre-show at the 2021 Survivor Series, defeating Damian Priest by disqualification after the United States Champion hit the Intercontinental Champion with Ric Boogs’ guitar.

Kurt Angle recently also commented on other stars he rates within WWE, putting together who could have been the new Team Angle.
