Kurt Angle Discusses How Aspect Of Ronda Rousey Really Surprised Him

Former World Champion Kurt Angle has picked out one feature of Ronda Rousey which “really surprised” him, whilst complimenting her on how she transitioned from UFC to professional wrestling.

Ronda Rousey made her in-ring debut on the grandest stage of them all, teaming with Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 34 to take on Triple and Stephanie McMahon. Prior to this, her career in mixed martial arts saw her become the first female inductee in to the UFC Hall Of Fame.

In an interview with The Zaslow Show on AM 560 Sports WQAM (Miami), Kurt Angle detailed how he was particularly impressed with the way Ronda Rousey took to the theatrics which are involved in professional wrestling. He also complimented her making the transition between the two industries faster than anyone he knows.

She is. But she picked up on the theatrics of it as well. You know, there’s a lot of emotion and psychology involved in pro wrestling that she picked up pretty quickly, that I was really surprised. I mean, she is a world-class athlete, nothing wrong with that. You definitely want a world-class athlete in professional wrestling. But to be able to pick up the character and the psychology, that is really tough to do, especially as quickly as she did.

Rousey’s next showpiece match in WWE is set to take place at WrestleMania 38, where she will take on Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship having earned the opportunity by winning this year’s Royal Rumble. The match is slated to take place on the first night of ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’ on Saturday, 2nd April.

It was reported earlier this year that Rousey was “bitter” at the crowd reactions she had received since returning to WWE.
