King Nakamura Wins Intercontinental Title On WWE SmackDown

Shinsuke Nakamura

King Nakamura is the new Intercontinental Champion having defeated Apollo Crews for the title on WWE SmackDown.

The master of the Kinshasa has been in fine form of late, and his popularity has skyrocketed further since Rick Boogs came to his side as a hype man.

Nakamura even picked up a victory over Crews in tag team action two weeks ago, although seven days later Commander Azeez would get involved.

During the title match on August 13, both Azeez and Boogs were ejected from ringside. Boogs was thrown out first for jumping on the apron and playing his guitar whilst Crews was on the top rope. Azeez saw this as enough of a distraction and tried to get in the ring, but was caught and similarly was sent to the back.

Although Crews then took control for a lot of the match, Nakamura soon rallied and was able to hit the Kinshasa for the decisive three count.

The victory makes Nakamura a two-time Intercontinental Champion, having previously held the belt for over 200 days after victory over Finn Balor at Extreme Rules 2019.

The match also marked the end of Crews’ title reign, which began with winning the Nigerian Drum Fight at WrestleMania 37 where he beat Big E.
