It seems like whilst he is still ‘Limitless’ in the eyes on many, Keith Lee will now have a new moniker going forward in WWE.
The former NXT Champion wasn’t on this week’s edition of Raw, but was involved in a dark match before the live show. Whilst it was somewhat of a squash match, the interesting point of note was that he was introduced to the crowd as Keith ‘Bearcat’ Lee.
This looks like a homage to a number of other wrestlers who have used the ‘Bearcat’ nickname. Ed ‘Bearcat’ Wright was a mainstay in professional wrestling from the early fifties until the mid-seventies. During his time he competed around the world including for NJPW, as well as a number of NWA affiliated promotions. He was inducted in to the Legacy wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2017, with his accolades including facing the likes of Antonio Inoki, Terry Funk, Bobo Brazil and Freddie Blassie.
There is also Bearcat Brown, who competed during the sixties and seventies. Primarily teaming with Len Rossi, he won many incarnations of the NWA Tag Team Championships during his career.

There were rumours before Adam Cole’s departure from WWE that Lee was set to become his manager, however the new AEW star has denied reports that was ever the plan.
The new Bearcat last appeared for WWE on the 6th August episode of Monday Night Raw, where he defeated Karrion Kross who had only recently made the move from NXT to the red brand. Lee hasn’t had a huge amount of matches in the company so far in 2021, after he was out for an extended period which he later revealed was due to medical concerns.
