Jim Ross Claims Steve Austin Threw Away “Offensive” Hall Of Fame Script

Steve Austin at the WWE Hall Of Fame

Jim Ross has made the claim that ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin threw away the script he was meant to use in the former WWE commentator’s Hall Of Fame ceremony as he felt there was no need to hand him one in the first place.

Good Ol’ JR was inducted in to the illustrious group of his peers by ‘The Rattlesnake’ during the ceremony in 2007. Ross was joined in that class by his long-time broadcast colleague Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, as well as the likes of The Sheik, Mr. Fuji, Nick Bockwinkel, Mr. Perfect, and ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes.

It has seemingly become tradition in WWE that anyone who inducting a soon-to-be Hall Of Famer is given a script – even if you’re Steve Austin.

Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross has spoken about the reaction of ‘Stone Cold’ when he was given the printout of what he needed to say.

Austin inducted me, us being first, and him throwing away the script they had written for him to introduce me. He found that very offensive and he did his own introduction.

Ross went on to discuss how his Hall Of Fame induction was probably one of his favourite moments with WWE, although he seemingly feels there’s no going back there now.

I think that would probably be my favourite [WWE moment] because it’s so unique, it’s only gonna happen once. I’m not gonna be one of those guys, if you’re gonna make a bet, you can bet JR is not gonna get that second Hall of Fame ring from WWE. But I’m very proud of the one I got. Special night.

Jim Ross, who is currently a commentator for AEW, recently confirmed he is likely to need radiation treatment for skin cancer.
