A new report has claimed that the newly released Jaxson Ryker had an “incredible amount of heat” within WWE ahead of his departure.
Jaxson Ryker joined with WWE in May 2017 after a run with IMPACT Wrestling. During his tenure in NXT, the US army veteran formed the Forgotten Sons with Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler. In April 2020, the squad was promoted to the main roster and began performing as American patriots.
The team, however, was later taken off the air when a tweet from Ryker sparked widespread outrage. When Cutler and Blake returned to the television, Ryker had already gone to Raw.
However, Ryker was an infrequent presence on the red brand, wrestling what turned out to be his final match on the show against Karrion Kross on September 27th.
Ryker was released by WWE on November 18th alongside a number of other stars such as John Morrison and Hit Row. It has now been reported that the star had a significant amount of heat backstage at least in part relating back to the incident which saw the Forgotten Sons removed from television.
he report from Fightful Select notes that many took issue with him for being the reason his former partners were removed from television, while most expected him to be part of the earlier rounds of releases.
In addition, a member of the creative team reportedly said it was evident Ryker wasn’t getting over and it was an “uphill battle to get a reaction.”
Jaxon Ryker wrestled his last match for WWE on November 1st where he was defeated by Cedric Alexander on Main Event.
