It would seem Tony Khan has once again been busy in getting new stars to put pen to paper, as Isaiah Scott is seemingly set to make the move to All Elite Wrestling.
Fightful Select is reporting that Scott, independently known as Shane Strickland and more recently Sw3rve The Realest, is set to sign with AEW, having been released by WWE back in November 2021. The report claims that it has been assumed since January that he will join the company, with a deal set to take effect in the first week of March.
It would seem Isaiah Scott is also being considered as a cross-over star, with him being considered for Warner Media shows along with several other AEW stars.
With Scott’s non-compete clause only expiring recently, he has kept himself busy including wrestling for both NJPW Strong and PROGRESS Wrestling, as well as being announced for GCW. Ahead of the expiry of the clause, there was plenty of speculation that multiple major companies were vying for his signature.
During his time working for WWE, Isaiah Scott held the NXT North American Championship, and was a key member of Hit Row on the brand. However, things changed when the group moved to SmackDown as part of the 2021 Draft, with all members of the team being released within just a few weeks.
This would seem to extend a run of new signings with All Elite Wrestling, after Keith Lee joined the organisation a few weeks ago following the expiry of his WWE non-compete clause. There is also lots of speculation that current Ring Of Honor Champion Jonathan Gresham was backstage at this week’s edition of Dynamite ahead of possibly signing a deal.
The most recent episode of AEW’s flagship show came from Bridgeport, Connecticut, and featured another debut as Buddy Matthews, known as Buddy Murphy during his run with WWE, made an appearance and swiftly joined Malakai Black and Brody King in The Kings Of The Black Throne.
