A currently injured WWE Superstar could make their comeback sooner than expected on SmackDown on January 28th according to a new report.
Since the January 7th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Xavier Woods has been out of action. On that show, WWE’s resident King Of the Ring teamed up with Kofi Kingston to face off against The Usos in a Street Fight for SmackDown Tag Team gold.
During the match, Woods attempted a DDT from outside the ring on Jey Uso. However, King Woods later revealed that he suffered an injury as a result of the endeavour. On G4’s Attack of the Show on January 13th, Woods revealed that he would be out of action for four to six weeks due to a torn plantaris – the muscle located beneath the calf.
However, Woods is expected to return to television on the go-home edition of SmackDown ahead of the Royal Rumble, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. King Woods is also expected to return to the road in the long run, though there is still no word on whether he has been cleared to compete in the ring.
Despite his return to television, he is unlikely to appear in the Royal Rumble match on January 29th due to the timetable of his recovery.
Both of Wood’s New Day partners Kofi Kingston and Big E will be a part of the men’s Rumble match as both stars attempt to claw their way back to world championship gold and kickstart their own road to WrestleMania.
