Goldberg may have returned to WWE ready for a match against Bobby Lashley, but he has recently described Brock Lesnar as his toughest opponent today.

Lashley will be putting his WWE Championship on the line against Goldberg at SummerSlam on August 21, with ‘The All-Mighty’ claiming that it’s not a case of who’s next for Goldberg, rather that “he’s done”.

Whilst Lashley will no doubt prove a tough challenge for Goldberg, he certainly remembers the times he stepped across the ring from ‘The Beast Incarnate’ in the past.

Speaking with Gaelyn Mendonca from WWE India, the multi-time World Champion discussed how tough a challenge Lesnar was and how at times it was like going up against himself.

He is a breed of his own. I’d like to say that he is an extremely similar character to mine. Mainly because that’s who we are – that’s truly how we are. One is a good guy, one is a bad guy – but not much of a difference. He is like going up against myself. I see that in Bobby Lashley too, but a younger version of myself.

The encounters between Goldberg and Lesnar have certainly been met with a mixed reception, with the pair both likely to want to forget their battle at WrestleMania 20.

They then faced one another again at the 2016 Survivor Series, where Goldberg picked up a shock victory and the Universal Championship in under two minutes – a result which was then reversed in a slightly longer match at WrestleMania 33.

Goldberg’s most recent rivalry with ‘The All-Mighty’ on Raw has been pretty intense, especially after he hit a spear on Lashley’s cohort MVP.

However, having been run down on the latest episode of the red brand, we will have to wait and see what more Goldberg has in store for the buildup to SummerSlam.
