Franky Monet To Fan After Ageist Comment: ‘STFU’

Franky Monet has reacted to a fan making a comment about how wrestling companies shouldn’t hire older wrestlers, telling them to ‘STFU’.

Monet was released by WWE on 4th November 2021, as part of reported budget cuts which included a total of 18 wrestlers. The former IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion was released at the same time as the likes of Keith Lee, Nia Jax and Karrion Kross.

Even more surprising is that Monet, who was known before her time in WWE as Taya Valkyrie, only made her debut for the company on NXT back in April 2021.

Monet has confirmed that she is looking to a return to her original name, as well as that she has only has a 30-day no-compete clause as she has put on her Twitter bio that she is taking bookings from 4th December.

In a post by Tommy Dreamer on social media following the releases, he commented that he’d be happy to build a wrestling company around the likes of Valkyrie, Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Mia Yim and Ember Moon. A fan decided to comment that he should not use old wrestlers, and Franky Monet responded.

STFU…. I just turned 38, I’ve been ashamed to even SPEAK about my age until today. 38 is not old…especially when you’re a man. Process that.

To put that into context, she is the same age as current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. In the same breath, current WWE Champion Big E is 35 years old while WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is 36.

The releases which Franky Monet was part of brings the total number of wrestlers let go by WWE in 2021 to 72. Adding that to those who were given their release in 2020, the total for the two-year period now stands at a staggering 125. This is despite still have 224 wrestlers listed on their WWE.com roster page.
