Vince McMahon doesn’t trust all the talent he has on his roster, according to Dutch Mantell.
Known best in WWE as Zeb Colter, Mantell has made the comment following the raft of talent which has left the company to head to All Elite Wrestling during the course of 2021.
The names AEW have been able to sign in the last few months is a veritable who’s who of talent which has left the Stamford organisation, including the likes of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.
Other stars who have made the move are Adam Cole, Ruby Soho, Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo.
Speaking to Smack Talk, Mantell has discussed how he feels the way WWE manages its talent is one of the reasons why they want the freedom AEW brings.
All these ex-WWE guys are coming in. I don’t know because if it’s all ex-WWE guys, they can still have great shows. They showed you what they could do in WWE if they let them go with it. But I don’t think Vince (McMahon) trusts talent. I mean he will probably let top talent say what they want to say, but he doesn’t trust, you know, the underneath brand. Because there’s no telling what they’ll say. I never liked the micromanaging when I was there. I dealt with it because I had no choice. You deal with it and try to get with it the best you can.
With AEW no longer going up against NXT in the ‘Wednesday Night Wars’, many now consider the ratings between Dynamite and Raw as a deciding factor between the two shows. In the key 18-49 year old bracket, AEW has picked up the victory in the last two weeks. This is even more impressive given that fact this timeframe including Big E cashing in Money In The Bank to win the WWE Championship.
