It is being reported that a potentially serious situation took place at AEW’s recent tapings in Long Island, after a fan was able to gain access to the backstage area.
AEW filmed Dynamite on 8th December at the UBS Arena, as well as that Friday’s edition of Rampage. The show was a homecoming for MJF, who received a heroes welcome from the crowd in attendance.
There was also a huge ovation for another Long Island alumni, as Hook stepped in to battle for the first time on Rampage. With his father applauding him to the ring from the commentary desk, Hook defeated Fuego Del Sol by way of submission with the REDRUM, which is his variant of his father’s Tazmission.
Fightful Select are now reporting that an incident occurred backstage during the tapings, with a fan managing to pose as an extra before being ejected from the locker room by MJF and FTR’s Dax Harwood.
The report claims that the security team at the venue allowed the access, with the fan then not just hanging around backstage but taking a seat the locker room – a seat which happened to be the one Harwood was using. He was told to move, only to move to Blade of The Hardy Family Office’s seat.
With the “extra” not known to the wrestlers, those around him were then surprised to see him putting on what were described as Jeff Hardy-esque armbands. This is when questions were asked of the fan, who named Hardy as his trainer despite the fact he does not train other wrestlers.
At this point the fan is said to have given the wrong name for who booked him as an extra, at which point MJF and Dax Harwood had seen enough and he was ejected from the locker room. He was taken to another member of staff, who confirmed that the same fan had been kicked out of another AEW show in October.
Fightful reportedly spoke to a source who said they were pleased that the issue was resolved peacefully, especially given the attack on Seth Rollins by a fan during Monday Night Raw recently.
