After last night’s NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night one, the yellow and black’s kingpin Paul ‘HHH’ Levesque and Shawn Michaels made themselves available to worldwide media to answer a number of questions coming out of the event. The former DX duo addressed a number of topics including NXT UK Champion WALTER, the future of now former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai and Shawn Michaels recent on-screen staredown with Adam Cole.

Highlights of the press conference were as follows:

  • Alistair George from the Metro asked about the future of NXT UK Champion WALTER after he successfully defended his championship against Tommaso Ciampa on night one. When asked about talents lining up to take on the Austrian, Levesque quipped that ‘Everyone wants to face WALTER until he chops them’. Addressing his future, both Michaels and HHH stressed that WALTER remains loyal to NXT UK but they are keen for him to work more for NXT in the US if he wants to. When addressing the obvious travel logistics, they likened the trip from Europe to Orlando as like flying between New York and Los Angeles, intimating that it was very possible for him to work both NXT brands if he so chose.
  • In response to a question from Spanish outlet Marca about Io Shirai potentially moving on to Raw or SmackDown after her title loss to Raquel Gonzalez, the duo stressed that Shirai had earned the right to do whatever she wished following her ten month title reign. Triple H was at pains to play down this assumption that a big loss in NXT automatically meant there was an exit imminent. He made it clear that there is always more to achieve on the brand.
  • When Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc. asked about his staredown last month with Adam Cole, Shawn Michaels was quick to pour cold water on the chances of a match between the two. He joked that if he were 10-15 years younger it would have been a great match and he would have slapped the taste out of Cole’s mouth. He of course ended the answer by putting Cole over as a phenomenal talent ahead of his Unsanctioned Match with Kyle O’Reilly.

In other quick bites from the call.

  • When prompted by a question from Michael Torres of Lucha Libre Online, HBK put MSK over as the missing piece that meant their tag team division was now complete in terms of mix of styles and personalities
  • In response to a question from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Triple H scotched rumours of telling the NXT talent they were deliberately moving away from AEW in the meeting to announce NXT’s move to Tuesday nights.
