Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre would appear to have been written off TV, with a new report emerging giving the reason why he was pulled after being attacked by Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss following his contest at Day 1.

‘The Scottish Warrior faced Madcap Moss at Day 1 in a singles match. At one point McIntyre looked to be in trouble when he was suspended upside down in the corner, however after managing to right himself he threw Moss across the ring and hit a Claymore to get the decisive pinfall.

Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss then attacked Drew McIntyre backstage later in the night, viciously attacking him before placing a chair around his neck and using part of the rigging to strike it. After the show, WWE described McIntyre as suffering a “cervical neck strain” which will keep him out of action.

INJURY UPDATE: @DMcIntyreWWE suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions.

Upon further evaluation by medical staff he will have a follow-up with an orthopedic cervical specialist.

Pro Wrestling Insider is now reporting that Drew McIntyre has actually been suffering with a legitimate neck injury for the last few weeks, which requires him to get checked out. The length of time he’ll be on the shelf will only be known after he’s been tested.

It was also noted that McIntyre has been working through the injury for a few weeks now, and has continued to work on house shows whilst not taking an easy shift, competing in hard-hitting matches against the likes of The Usos and Sheamus.
