Cody Rhodes & Brandi Confirm Departure From AEW

Brandi & Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi have officially left All Elite Wrestling, after statements from the pair as well as AEW President Tony Khan.

Following his ladder match to determine an undisputed TNT Champion against Sammy Guevara, Cody Rhodes confirmed during an interview which aired on YouTube that he was currently a free agent and working without a contract.

It’s paradise, right? There are so many elephants in the room. This is an insane week in wrestling. People think that the Sean Ross story is BS, it’s not. I’m working here without a contract. I’m not even on payroll anymore. I’m working here on a handshake deal. That is 100% legitimate, I swear on Pharaoh’s life.

However, it would seem this arrangement has come to an end, as Tony Khan has issued a statement on social media wishing the pair luck wherever they land after AEW.

Cody and Brandi Rhodes were integral to the launch of All Elite Wrestling.

Cody’s ability combined with his boldness and his passion for our industry and his love for community outreach helped AEW deliver on our mission to give fans what they needed for far too long – something new, innovative, and lasting.

Brandi helped us shape the AEW story and I appreciate how hard she fought for us both in the ring and out of the ring, competing in the women’s division as well as advancing our efforts at inclusion and civic causes including great partnerships with Kulture City and the American Heart Association.

I have immense respect and appreciation for Cody and Brandi, and I wish them both the best as they move on from AEW. Thank you Cody and Brandi!

Since the statement from the owner of the company, both Cody Rhodes and Brandi have issued their own statements.

The rumour mill started circling very quickly, with one report claiming that Cody Rhodes’ camp has already been in discussion with WWE. However, it will likely be some time yet before we get official confirmation of the pair’s next destination.
