In an unexpected announcement, WWE have confirmed the release of Zelina Vega.
The announcement was made official on the WWE website.
Less than 15 minutes before her release, Vega, real name Thea Trinidad, tweeted her support for unionisation in wrestling.
Vega joined WWE in 2017 after a spell in TNA Wrestling. Whilst there she wrestled as Rosita as part of the Mexican American faction.
She initially landed on the NXT brand as the manager of Andrade Cien Almas. When Almas moved up to the SmackDown roster with Vega by his side. The duo were moved to Raw in late 2019.
This year on Raw, Vega’s role grew to manage a stable include Andrade, Angel Garza and briefly, Austin Theory.
Recently, Vega came more to the fore as a wrestler, challenging Raw Women’s champion, Asuka in a losing effort at Clash Of Champions.
During last month’s draft, she was moved back to SmackDown but had yet to make an impact before today’s release.
Away from the ring, Trinidad is married to Aleister Black.
