On this week’s Monday Night Raw, Big E cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to become WWE Champion.
Bobby Lashley already had a scheduled title defence on the show against Randy Orton. However, the briefcase holder had taken to social media before the show to say he would at Raw to cash in. He continued to taunt ‘The Almighty’ throughout the show, claiming he would take the title one way or the other.
After Lashley successfully defended against Orton, Big E stormed the ring and hit a Big Ending to get the decisive pinfall. His New Day teammates Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods came to the ring to help the new title holder celebrate.
WWE itself started the social media outpouring for the new champion, changing its Twitter handle to ‘BIG E IS WWE CHAMPION’.

Sami Zayn, who had battled Big E for the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown, also got in on the act.
Great moment. Almost makes me forgive him for that time he built an entire condo development on my ass. Congratulations to @WWEBigE
Roman Reigns described the win as a “smart decision”, whilst Kofi Kingston was unsurprisingly elated.
I’m on cloud 9 right now! Words cannot describe how incredibly proud of my brother! So well deserved! The BIGGEST congratulations to @WWEBigE. Hard work pays off!
Plenty of people now outside WWE had kind words to say, including Renee Paquette.
I ❤️ @WWEBigE so much. Let E move that damn needle. Champ shit.

There will be plenty more congratulations coming the way of the new WWE Champion over the next few hours, and it no doubt won’t take long to find out who the first challenger to Big E is going to be.
