Big E Gives Positive Update After Breaking Neck On SmackDown

WWE Superstar Big E has recently given a positive update on his current status, after a gruesome landing on the outside led to him breaking his neck.

On the 11th March edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Big E was teaming with Kofi Kingston to take on Ridge Holland, who the newly renamed Butch (known in NXT and elsewhere as Pete Dunne) at their side who was making his debut on the show.

However, an overhead belly to belly suplex attempt from Holland led to the former WWE Champion not making it all the way over, and landing on his head. He was stretchered from the building, and Kingston was left to finish the match on his own.

That evening, Big E took to social media to confirm that the incident had left him with a broken neck, although he still tried to stay upbeat during the video.

I can’t thank all of you beautiful people enough, for all of your concern and your messages. It’s very heart-warming. I can move all of my digits, [wiggles fingers to camera] you see that? That’s nice, that’s always a good thing. Strength feels fine. But unfortunately, right now they tell me that my neck is broken, so there is that.

But once again, thank you everybody, I’m gonna be alright, I’ll be good. Don’t worry, go to sleep. Don’t worry about old me, but for real, thank you. I appreciate all of you.

With that being posted in the early hours following the incident, an update later that day was even more positive.

On that occasion he confirmed that after testing had been done, he wouldn’t require surgery to fix his neck.

So I got some really good news all things considered. The C1 and C6 are indeed fractured, non-displacement though, which is a good thing. I don’t have any damage to my spinal cord. No ligament damage and no surgery, which I’m very thankful for. Pro-tip, if you’re going to break your neck, do it in Birmingham. They’ve been great. Everyone here has been great. For real, it’s meant a ton to me that so many of you have been so kind and reached out or stopped in to see me. I feel like I sound like a broken record, but I’m very grateful and I’m gonna be alright. It’s a blessing

In further positive news, Big E has now confirmed that he has returned home and is no longer in hospital.

Responding to NFL star Andre Smith on Twitter who was offering any help he needed, Big E confirmed that he’s now home and the hospital had been great to him.

It has also been noted that Big E was likely to be set for a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania 38, where The New Day would reform to take on Holland, Sheamus and Butch. The match was never announced, and we will await to see if a replacement contest is arranged.
