A new report has claimed that Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey will meet in a huge one-on-one clash at WrestleMania 38.
On January 24th it was reported by Fightful Select that Ronda Rousey could be heading back to WWE. Not only that, the former UFC star is back in training and WWE are pushing hard for her to appear at the Royal Rumble.
Rousey hasn’t appeared inside a WWE ring since April 2019 at WrestleMania 35 where she lost her Raw Women’s Championship to Becky Lynch in a main event which also featured Charlotte Flair.
It has now been suggested that Rousey’s destination, should she return in the coming days/weeks/months could be a showdown with her old rival Becky Lynch. The rivalry between the pair goes all of the way back to 2018, prior to their scrapped clash at that year’s Survivor Series.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented that Rousey is scheduled to appear at WrestleMania.
“I presume [Rousey will face Lynch]. She’s scheduled for WrestleMania and it’s been reported that she’s gonna be at the Rumble which makes sense. The problem is if she’s in the Rumble does that mean she wins the Rumble?”
“If she’s gonna come in and just get thrown out, it’s a nothing [moment] especially if she’s going to be a big headliner at WrestleMania, which if she’s gonna be at WrestleMania she’s gonna be a big headliner or she’s not going to be there.”
Although a match with Charlotte Flair could also be an option, Meltzer added that the match with Lynch is more likely.
“My impression is it’s more likely to be Becky Lynch though. That could be the match and the impression I got is that it’s certainly more than considered to be the match. I don’t know if it’s ‘official official’ but I know somebody there who told me that it was “in the books” and “in heavy consideration” that that would be the match.”
Becky Lynch will be defending her Raw Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble against Doudrop. Meanwhile, SmackDown Women’s Champion Flair has entered herself into the Royal Rumble match.
