This week WWE SmackDown came to us from the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Adam Pearce added a fine to Brock Lesnar’s suspension to the tune of $1 million, Shotzi stepped up to the Queen and the draftees came to the Blue Brand. Not forgetting to mention:
How did Shotzi fair against Flair?
Charlottle Flair opened SmackDown this week and was interrupted by Sasha Banks who wanted a shot at the blue brand’s Women’s title. Charlotte disagreed and said that she would prefer to give a newer Superstar a chance and out came Shotzi in her tank to step up to the challenge.
Towards the end of the match (which Michael Cole confirmed was a Championship Contender’s match) Sasha got on the apron and argued with Flair then almost got accidentally hit by Shotzi. The Queen took the distraction and hit Shotzi with Natural Selection to get the pin.
After the match an irate Shotzi attacked The Boss inside and outside of the ring and left her laying on the mat after hitting her with a senton from the top rope.
McIntyre stayed open
Drew McIntyre continued his open challenge this week and was answered by Mustafa Ali. The strength of Drew was too much for Ali to overcome, and even though he avoided the Claymore he found himself tapping out a few moments later to the Kimura Lock. After the match Mustafa got on the mic and told the crowd that “the fans chose to root against him for no other reason than his name is Mustafa Ali.”
Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without…
A Trick or Street Fight match! WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs took on Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss in the yearly match in which pumpkins, kendo sticks, and anything else at ringside is legal. After Nakamura was taken out with a pumpkin on his head he was knocked over the barrier by Corbin, who sent himself over too.
In the ring Boogs was on the second rope when two masked individuals attacked him with kendo sticks which knocked him to the mat. Moss then put Boogs away with a neckbreaker on to a pumpkin to get the pin and win for his team. After the match the masks came off and we saw Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza looking pleased with themselves.
A handicap match in all but name
Naomi was set to take on Shayna Baszler this week but there was a problem: no referee. Sonya Deville made her way out to announce the original ref had been injured in Brock Lesnar’s attack the week prior and that Sonya herself would be the replacement.
Naomi had a mis-step on the top rope but recovered enough to knock Shayna down with an enziguri, however Deville refused to count the pin attempt. Baszler rolled through in to a pin attempt of her own and that was counted VERY quickly by Sonya.
After the bell Naomi squared up to Deville but was taken down with a Kirifuda Clutch from the Queen of Spades.
The New Day vs. The Usos in a Championship Contender match
Earlier in the show King Woods knighted his loyal subject Kofi Kingston, dubbing him “Sir Kofi Kingston of the Order of the Golden Unicorn.” Jimmy and Jey Uso made themselves known during the ceremony and that set up the main event of the show.
Jimmy Uso thought he had the match won for his team after he hit Sir Kofi with a superkick but he hadn’t seen Xavier get the tag. As Jimmy covered Kingston for the pin the regal, legal, King Woods rolled him over and got the fall and the win over the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
