This week Raw came from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With multiple titles defended, plus Johnny Drip Drip stepping up to challenge Omos, these are the bits that caught our attention:
Priest issued an open challenge and got TWO former World Champions answer
Damian Priest welcomed everyone to Raw this week and announced that he wanted to show respect to the United States title like the champions before him. As such, he issued an open challenge and the outcome was he had to defend against both Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in a triple-threat match. The match was, as expected, incredibly hard hitting from all sides. McIntyre hit a wonderful double suplex on both the other men from the turnbuckle, and then aimed for Priest with the Claymore Kick. The U.S. Champion sidestepped resulting in Sheamus taking the blow. Priest then countered a slam attempt from Drew and turned it in to The Reckoning, then he pinned McIntyre clean in the middle of the ring to retain. After the match they shook hands in a show off respect (Sheamus was still knocked out on the outside but we doubt he would’ve shaken anyone’s hand anyway).
R-Truth and Akira barked up the wrong tree
Reginald, in a pre-taped promo, walked around a park and talked about how he always dreamed of travelling the world which he can now do as a WWE Champion. As he talked he noticed R-Truth (in a blonde wig) was playing Frisbee with someone in a dog suit (which turned out to be Akira Tozawa. Of course it did). They chased the champion around the play park and gave him plenty of opportunity to show off his parkour skills before he escaped. The segment ended with Truth telling Tozawa “every dog has its day except you. You didn’t act like a dog, dawg.”
Doudrop gets the drop on Eva
Eva Marie and Doudrop were scheduled for a one-on-one match but Doudrop didn’t want to wait for the bell. She attacked Eva in the ring before the match was official and after she hit her with everything she had she counted the pinfall herself. The official announcement was that Marie couldn’t compete but then Doudrop got on the mic and announced herself as the winner.
Jax pinned the Women’s Champion clean
Nia Jax had been on a rampage earlier in the show, taking out Rhea Ripley after Ripley beat Shayna Baszler (AND she took out Nikki A.S.H. beforehand). Jax met Charlotte Flair for a non-title match which got VERY real and heated towards the end as both wrestlers got obviously frustrated with each other. The end of the match came about after Jax hit Flair with a huge powerbomb and pinned the champion for the non-title victory. Nia stood tall over Flair as her music hit.
RKBro denied Lashley becoming a double champ
Randy Orton and Riddle defended the Raw Tag Team Titles in the main event of the show against Bobby Lashley and MVP, with A.J. Styles and Omos at ringside. It came as no surprise when Omos tried to interfere but his attempted attack on Orton was stopped by a kick from Riddle. Back in the ring MVP was hit with the Floating Bro from Riddle who then got the pin to retain the titles. After the match Lashley received an RKO from the Viper as Raw went off air.
