5 Key Moments From WWE NXT (September 7, 2021)

Burch Holland Lorcan Dunne

This week NXT once again took place in the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. Santos Escobar (with a little help from his friends) defeated Carmelo Hayes, Ember Moon lost once more, and Indi Hartwell had her bachelorette party. But also:

The Creed Brothers dominated in their debut

The Diamond Mine’s newest enforcers, Julius and Brutus Creed, came out and showed just what they were capable of when they took on the team of Chuckie Viola and Paxton Averill (who never had a chance). Brutus started against Averill and after an uppercut, launched him over the top rope to the floor. He then tagged in his brother with and slapped each other in the face before Julius delivered a Cartwheel Slam followed by a vicious clothesline on his opponent to get the pin. The locker room must now be on notice.

Kacy and Kayden couldn’t quite capture the gold

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Zoey Stark and Io Shirai defended the titles against Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter on this week’s show. Stark and Shirai didn’t seem to gel as a team but they managed to fend off the challengers enough to get the win. The end of the match came about when Stark hit Catanzaro with a big knee strike to the face which was followed with a moonsault from Io to get the pin to retain the titles. As Catanzaro and Carter made their exit they were attacked on the ramp by Gigi Dolin, Jacey Jayne, and Mandy Rose (who appeared to have borrowed a face protector from Sheamus).

Dexter Lumis knows how to party

Dexter Lumis’ bachelor party was shown to all and the guests were Johnny Gargano, Drake Maverick, Odyssey Jones, Cameron Grimes (who was paying) and… a zombie referee. They went go karting, threw an axe or two, had a go on a trampoline and played laser tag. Candice LeRae and the bride-to-be Indi Hartwell ran in on the fun and Gargano asked if they’d been spying (which they had) but they denied it. Everyone was happy and Gargano finished the segment by saying “Guys… Let’s go have a wedding!”

Ying got the win

Mei Ying made her in-ring debut against a very apprehensive Virginia Ferry. Ferry got one bit of offence in but was then met with chop after chop until Ying put her out of her misery and pinned her effortlessly. Boa joined Mei in the ring and Tian Sha stood tall.

Lorcan and Burch beaten, then beaten up

NXT Tag Team Champions MSK put the titles on the line against the team that never lost them, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne were in the corner of Burch and Lorcan but even with the odds stacked against them, MSK came out on top when Wes Lee pinned Oney to retain the belts. After the match Dunne gave the nod to Holland who knocked Burch down with a headbutt. Lorcan looked on in shock and was met with a shrug and a kick to the head from the Bruiserweight. A Powerslam from Holland to Lorcan, followed by another headbutt to Burch, and NXT went off the air.
