1922 – Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeated Stanislaus Zbyszko to take the World Heavyweight Championship in Wichita, Kansas.

1997 – WCW Monday Nitro was held at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the last wrestling event to ever take place at the spiritual home of WCW and previously, Jim Crockett Promotions and Georgia Championship Wrestling. It was demolished four months later.

2003 – ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin made his first appearance on Raw since he famously walked out of the company the previous summer.

2008 – WWE officially retired the Cruiserweight champion, with Hornswoggle as the last recognised champion. The title was inactive until September 2016 when it was awarded to the winner of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, TJ Perkins.

2008 – Naruki Doi and Shingo bested Mark and Jay Briscoe in Liverpool, England to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship.

2014 – On an episode of Raw held in Chicago, Illinois The Usos defeated The New Age Outlaws to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

2016 – Japanese wrestling superstar Hayabusa (Eiji Ezaki) died at the age of 47 from a subarachnoid hemmorage in Tokyo, Japan.
