Newcastle United look set to sign Kieran Trippier after agreeing a fee for the Atletico Madrid star.
The 31-year-old looks set to be Newcastle’s first signing under their new owners and for new manager Eddie Howe since he took charge in November – with a fee of £12m agreed with Atletico Madrid.
Trippier joined La Liga side Atletico Madrid in 2019 from Tottenham for £20m, and will have a medical on Wednesday ahead of a Premier League return.
The full back last worked with Eddie Howe at Burnley and has since played for England at Euro 2020, as well as making 83 appearances for Atletico, who won La Liga last season.
Trippier may be followed in the door by another La Liga star as Newcastle reportedly have offered a “monster contract” to Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Newcastle United have found themselves rooted to the relegation zone this season, with an escape looking almost impossible with only one club previously avoiding the drop having had the same or less points than the Magpies currently have.
However, financial backing may permit Eddie Howe the greatest resources possible as the club look to maintain their top flight status for next year and build a new future for the club.
Dembele, meanwhile, finds himself further down the pecking order at Camp Nou as Ferran Torres has joined Barcelona from Manchester City.
Newcastle are second bottom of the Premier League, having won just one league game all season. They are next in action on Saturday, at home to Cambridge United in the FA Cup third round, before hosting fellow strugglers Watford in the league on 15 January.
