Anthony Martial Eyes Manchester United Exit

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial could be heading out of Manchester United in January, with his agent confirming that the French star wants to leave.

Frustrated by a lack of playing time, Anthony Martial will seek to leave United when the transfer window opens in three short weeks.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Philippe Lamboley, Martial’s agent, plans to speak to the club in order to secure a move away for first team football.

“Anthony wishes to leave the club in January, He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

The French forward has only started two Premier League games for the club this season, scoring just once.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick recently said that he may allow some members of the squad to leave on loan, should they be in need of more game time.

Anthony Martial signed for Manchester United in September 2015, joining from Monaco in a deal worth £36 million, potentially rising to £58 million. At the time the fee represented a record figure for a teenager.

The French star made an instant impact at Old Trafford, coming off the bench to score on debut against Liverpool in a 3-1 win. He followed that up with another two goals a week later in his first start for the club. Martial ended his debut campaign with a record of 17 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Martial enjoyed his most fruitful spell with the club in the 2019-2020 season where he hit a record high 23 goals. However, the 26-year-old’s form began to desert him last season, with Edinson Cavani eventually being favoured as the team’s central striker. Martial’s travails have deepened further in recent times, finding himself the odd one out following the summer arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
